It’s Official: We are a family of six!
As of the end of February, the adoption of the girls is official! We are now the proud parents of two beautiful, charming, high-energy, amazing little girls.
Adoption through the foster care system has been a great experience – for us- but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t come with it’s share of bumps and bruises. And while I would love to share all that with you – this blog is not what that’s all about. (This is, after all, NOT a “pin I’ve tried” 😛 ) There is so much I could share – the honest to goodness truth of what it’s like… but people unsubscribe when you do that. So, I’m just going to say it’s pretty terrific. I’ll save that story for when I start a new blog about what it’s like to adopt from the foster care system.
Here is how things have been going…
The girls have been with us since last October. We flew out to pick them up in Hawaii (I know, tough break!) and they have been “ours” ever since. Technically, not “ours” ours, because they had to live with us for a minimum of 90 days before the adoption could be finalized, but basically, they were ours.
Things are great. Settling into life with four kids has been a little more chaotic than I thought possible.
The girls are really terrific. They are pretty well-adjusted, happy kids considering that they were in foster care. They were extremely lucky to have been placed with amazing families before us, and even luckier that they still have those people in their lives.
It was overwhelming at first. But things have a way of working themselves out – eventually. Our biggest concern is how far behind they are in school. They are catching up, but it’s going to take a while.
Cuter than cute, right? And in person, they are funny and sweet. “O” won an award this month for being caring and kind. And is such an amazing big sister. On the toughest days, I see how sweet they are to each other, and it makes me realize just how blessed they were to have each other.
Some day, I might share how much of an adjustment it was to adopt them, and how overwhelmed I was in the beginning, but in the meantime, enjoy the pictures of these two little munchkins.
If you have questions about the process, feel free to send me an email at eliesa@apinterestaddict.com
Are they not the cutest little buggers ever?!
I’m pretty sure we have adopted the best two kids ever.
Life is settling down, and things are getting into a regular old, everyday kind of groove.
I hope and pray that we will do right by these girls. They absolutely deserve the best we have to give.

Thank-you for the blog! *** shared it with me. I have been wondering how they have been doing. We looked into bringing them to ——- but that proved almost impossible. I am so glad you have them and that they are doing well.
God Bless you!

I think a blogger deserves to have a whole life, not just the topic of the blog. If people leave, let them. There are more of us that care about dirty garages and our blessed events like our children. Power on, girl.
