I Need My Space Dog Bandana
My daughter’s dog, Django, has a little bit of anxiety when he meets new people. When she takes him to the dog park, he loves playing with the other dogs, but all the new people there freak him out. Dog park people are the kind that love to pet other people’s dogs, therefore, it causes a bit of a predicament for my daughter having to explain to everyone that he doesn’t want to be touched by them.
While searching for something to help with his person anxiety, she came across this article.
Do you know what a yellow ribbon tied to a Dog’s collar means?
Basically it means the dog with a yellow ribbon on his/her collar or leash should be approached with caution. There are a lot of reasons for why, such as the dog has fear or anxiety issues, and this helps to warn others. While at the dog park though, dogs aren’t wearing their leashes, and their humans aren’t always right beside them to explain.
Then she saw this bandana on Etsy. I need space bandana
And although she could have just ordered it for him, I decided to make it. I used this tutorial to learn to make the bandana. It was super easy for even a beginning sewer like me.
The dog’s collar gets fed through the pocket, which makes it easy to put on, take off, and no knots to get too tight like a normal bandana.
He likes it – or at least he doesn’t hate it. :p
The Etsy site above has other kinds of bandanas for dogs too – so, if your pup needs to be able to “talk” to humans, go check out the other options.
So, this was definitely a pin success. Easy to make, effective and not expensive – the ultimate Pinterest trifecta!
