I feel like it’s bad luck to do any planning for the new house until we sign the papers and have the keys, but I can’t help myself from trolling ideas on Pinterest for the new house.
We are under contract for the new house, and the inspection has been completed. We know there is a lot of work to be done on the house, including 35 pages of “discrepancies” to be addressed, per the inspector. And it needs new flooring and a new kitchen – stat!
The current kitchen is falling apart. Hinges, drawers, doors – all in bad shape. The stovetop is not working well – the lines to the gas tank are a mess, and the knobs are melted. The upper cabinets on the one side block views and light from the rest of the room. It feels a little like a cave in there. We plan on knocking down that side of the kitchen and putting a large island there instead. It will open up the room, and make the kitchen much brighter and spacious. (I’d show you pictures, but since it’s not our house yet, I don’t want to invade the old owner’s privacy)
Here are a few of my favorite pins for the new kitchen…
Sarah Richardson is one of my all time favorite designers. I love how her designs are both classic and modern. Our new kitchen will have only one wall to put appliances on, and the rest will go in the large island.
This kitchen (above) has two ovens below the counter, with a gas cooktop between. This would be a great way to get my double ovens while keeping wall space available for the fridge (which will need to be moved from the center wall that is coming down).
Or we could go with something like this double oven combo…
After much debate between putting real wood floors in the house vs. tile that looks like wood, we have decided to go with the wood look tile again. Between all our animals and the fact that it is very humid and wet in South Florida most of the time, it just made sense to go with tile again. Since we love the tile we put in our current house, we are going with that again, but taking it all the way through the house this time. Well, except for the bathrooms.
This house doesn’t have a pool, which we really do use and enjoy here. So, that’s another thing I am busy pinning ideas for. Although it’s definitely not in our budget, isn’t this pool amazing??
The pool will take a while to get to, so don’t make your travel plans to come visit yet! 😛
The house does have a little bar area, which I might make into more of a butler’s pantry since we aren’t huge drinkers. But I love this idea for the alcohol we do have.
That picture is from the same house as the kitchen above. If you want to see the rest of the photos, just click on the photo and it will take you to that post.
Well, that’s all for now. As soon as we settle, I can show you some before pics of the house. I can’t wait to get started!
If you got to change one thing in our house (money not an issue – dream big!) what would it be?
Eliesa
Oh, by the way, I made a few changes to the website so hopefully it will run smoother. I also set up a new email program, but it’s got a few glitches that I’m working out. Sorry if you get a second email from me with the same post! I’m trying to figure out how to stop that. Thanks for your patience!
