Citrus Salt Body Scrub
Every May, I get the itch to take a beach chair, a good book and a frozen drink and sit with my toes in the sand, watching the waves roll in on a quiet beach. In a perfect world, I’d love to make it my way to close out the day, but until school is finished for the year, I have to be happy that a Saturday beach day is definitely a possibility here in South Florida. It doesn’t stop me though from making sure to be ready to hit the beach when the kids are out of school, and time slows down for all of us.
Today, I was scrolling through Pinterest and I came across this pin*.
Since summer is coming, and the pool is almost done, I figured that this would be the perfect time to break out the body scrubs and moisturizers, and get my legs, and arms and elbows and feet, ready and presentable for both the beach and pool-side lounging. This particular recipe was perfectly timed for today since I had both lemons and limes in the fridge.
The recipe calls for:
1/2 cup almond oil
1/2 cup sea salt
1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
1/2 teaspoon orange zest
I had all of that except for the almond oil, so I substituted coconut oil instead. And I used all the zest from one orange and one lemon, which was more than it called for. In my defense, what the heck was I going to do with the leftover zest? It just adds more citrusy scent to the scrub – and it just happens to be one of my favorite scents! 🙂
Just mix it up – be careful not to have the mixture come in contact with water, or the salt will dissolve.
Apply it at the end of your shower, gently massaging it into your skin, then rinse off with warm water and pat dry. Your skin will glow, and be ever so soft.
And Oh My Goodness, it smells A-MAZING! Good enough to eat, actually. My husband decided to taste it and said it was too salty, but had I made it with sugar he could have eaten it by the spoonful! It smells like summer vacation on a tropical island.
This is definitely a worthwhile pin to try. I’m sure there are many teachers that would love to receive this as an end-of-year thank you gift!
What pins have you tried lately?
Thanks for stopping by!

The coconut oil may have even been better than almond oil. I tried one with olive oil that smelled great but was a complete disaster because it kept separating. The consistency of the coconut oil probably held it together much better. I’ll definitely try this one!
