Pins I’ve Tried: How to Organize Cleaning Supplies

How to Organize Cleaning Supplies –

One of the things I need most in my life is better organization skills.  I am constantly losing things because they didn’t have a “spot”. Cleaning supplies were the worst. Some were shoved under the bathroom sinks, some in the kitchen, and more in the garage. And I always had unnecessary multiples of many things because I didn’t know if I had them at home when I was shopping.

Then I found www.iHeartOrganizing.blogspot.com

Her blog is every unorganized woman’s answer to organizing. If you haven’t checked out her blog, please do. This is the pin I saw from her website.

How to organize cleaning supplies - over the door shoe storage used as organizer

From iHeartOrganizing

It’s brilliant, right? But, I didn’t like that I couldn’t see the products easily – in this version, you have to tag all the pockets.

Then, I found this over-the-door shoe organizer at Walmart for about $5.

Perfection!! And up it went. And all the cabinet spaces in the house were cleaned out, the duplicates were “married” and only things that truly needed to be in those spaces stayed in those rooms. For example, toilet cleaners in the bathrooms, dish soap in the kitchen, etc. The rest went here, on the back door of my laundry room.

So easy to find what you are looking for!

Now, I can see everything at a glance, know when supplies are getting low and, BONUS, if I’m at the store and forget if I have enough of something, I can call my husband or the kids at home to check on it – and even they can find it easily!

So easy, and yet so satisfying!

What’s your favorite organization secret?

This is great! I’m definitely going to have to use this idea in my house….I think my home office or craft room could use it!

My current favorite organizing secrets are (besides my beloved label maker of course) are tension rods in unexpected places (http://www.pigandpaint.com/2011/12/pinterest-challenge-under-sink-storage.html) and curtain rods in unexpected places (http://pinterest.com/pin/260434790921163892/). Both ideas courtesy of Pinterest! 🙂

    Happy New Year!

These are great! I need something for my hanging jewelry, so I might try the second one. And I like the idea of using the double hooks.

I use a clear one on the inside of my pantry odor for all of my spices. I love it!

I just put up one in the office for odds and ends that get lost in my junk drawers, like camera cords and chargers. It makes them so much easier to find!
