The demo on our master bathroom started yesterday, and I foresee many hours being dedicated to it’s completion. I am hoping to be able to get a few posts written during the next few weeks, but just in case I don’t, don’t worry – I haven’t fallen into the hole in the floor that used to be my bath tub! I’m still busy pinning like crazy – especially bathroom pins. Oh, by the way, sorry about clogging up your pinterest feed with them all. But, I am loving how easy it has been to gather ideas for this project on Pinterest!
I thought you might want to see what we are starting with in our master bathroom. These I took a few months ago, and it hasn’t changed since then, so they are accurate portraits of what it looked like on Monday morning. (I haven’t done one single thing in this bathroom, besides change out the shower heads and clean it)
Oh, and the builder used drywall behind the tile, not durock or cement board. It was all waterlogged. And what you can’t see behind the right side of that wall, is a little seat that the tiles fell off of – the sheetrock was black with mold. Gross.
So now that you have seen what we started with, if you are curious as to what direction we are taking the bathroom, you can check out my master bathroom board on Pinterest here.
For the last few days, I have been wrestling with picking out sinks for the bathroom. I love the way that vessel sinks look, but I’m afraid that they are too trendy and will date the bathroom too quickly. The flip side is that I think the under-mount sinks can be a little boring unless you have a stunning countertop. I want a very classic, traditional bathroom – but not boring. And I am trying to choose materials and accessories that will make it as “timeless” as it can be. I want a design fairy to come tell me what exactly to pick out. If you’ve got a design fairy, send him/her my way – I’m in desperate need of guidance!
I’ve gotten a few of the ideas we are running with from these pins in particular… (click on the pic to go to the website)
I haven’t figured out what color to paint the bathroom yet, I’m waiting to see how the tile looks once it’s put in. I would love navy and white – it’s my favorite color combination – but I may go with a super light grey or bright white to add a little lightness to the room.
We are hoping that our contractor can build something similar to that cabinet for the dimensions we need – almost nine feet! Our bathroom has a very similar set up to this one, but we don’t have the cute little cut out window next to the sink. I can not wait to see the tub in it’s place in front of the window!!! I really wish I could make a decision on whether to paint the base of the tub black or dark grey – or just keep it white. My husband really wants it to be black, and I think I might let him make the choice. So much of this bathroom is what I’ve been dreaming of, so I have to let him have one or two decisions 🙂
I love all the different colors that run through the marble. You have so many color choices to pick from. In fact, I just picked up the marble tile for our bathroom today – can’t wait to see it in place!!
You simply must check out the bathroom at Stay at Home-ista, which is where I found the above picture. Love Love Love that bathroom!!
So, those are just a few of my inspiration pins… check out the rest on Pinterest!
Anyway, on Sunday, it hit me that I’ve tried a lot of pins that I haven’t posted about. Actually, there were more than I expected once I started to look through them. The pins I haven’t posted about are mostly recipes. In those cases, I start to take pictures of in the hopes of writing a post, and just forget about taking a “finished” picture because we have already eaten it. Sometimes, I just forget about posting about it all-together. And then, there are some that I try because they look delicious, but then they don’t turn out to be great, so I don’t bother posting a full post on it. Mostly because I don’t want to hurt the original poster’s feelings…
But then I realized that all my fellow Pinterest Addicts would appreciate knowing which pins didn’t work out, or taste as fabulous as they look. So, I started a new board of “Pins I’ve Tried” and I put comments on each of them on how they turned out. You can check out that board here.
By the way, if you ever see me pin something that you have tried before, please be sure to comment on it and let me know how it turned out for you!
I’d love to know if you have tried pins that ended up not working, or tasting like poo. Or, have you created crafts that look nothing like what you were attempting to replicate? Or, have you had an amazing success that you think we should all know about?? Tell me about it!!
Alrighty then, I’m headed off to bed. I can’t have a repeat of this morning… we slept through both alarms. Ugh.
Thanks for stopping by 🙂
